Hearts decide they need a manager after all

The recent losing streak results in this strongly worded message on the Hearts web site:

The Board of Directors of Hearts acknowledges it is not acceptable for Hearts to be in its current position in the league.

Whew! You can hear the teacups rattle in the boardroom. Some of them may have stood up as they took it in turns to say ‘not acceptable’.

What ‘not acceptable’ means in this case is that, in addition to a Sport Director (looking after the Hearts netball and swimming teams, perhaps) and an Assistant Head Coach and a Caretaker Manager, the board are looking for a – wait for it – Manager. This mythical being will have “full responsibility for team selection” (lots of choking on tea and biscuits here as they wrote that bit) and “will be an experienced football manager” (that’s a relief).

What will make the job so appealing to potential candidates is that “the new manager will work with” Korobochka and Frail. Now, it seems to me that most managers coming into clubs these days tend to bring their own back room staff. That means coaches etc. If K and F are to remain, just how many top rate managers will tolerate that? Or are we going to end up with a bigger management pool than first team squad.

Oh, and in case you were in any doubt:

The move by the Board of Directors has the full backing of Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.

Really?
